viii THE PHOTOGRAPHIC NEWS. December S.-Wh SWAN'S PLATES Are extensively used in the principal Photographic Studios. They are KNOWN AS THE BEST, and are generally acknowledged to be the most sensitive, reliable, and easy to develop of any Dry Plates offered. The ARCHBISHOP OF YORK writes, in August lastThe Plates sent me are wonderful.” P. M. LAWS, Esq., Photographer, Newcastle, writes, in same month:—" During the past eight months I have used your Dry Plates daily, and have found them exceedingly trustworthy, both for Day and Gas-light Portraiture. Never having used them of less than twenty times the sensitiveness of wet plates (which I have now altogether discarded), I have no desire to go below that degree. The batch now being rapidly used up are labelled forty times as sensitive as wet plates, and, notwithstanding this high degree of sensitiveness, give exceedingly perfect negatives. Kindly favour us with one hundred and fifty dozen, or as many as may be, in batch of same character. ABEL LEWIS, Esq., Isle of Man, writes, in November :—« The last batch of Plates work beautifully.” From Messrs. W. and D. DOWNEY, of Newcastle and London, June 1, 1880.—" Gentlemen,—Your Dry Plates are excellent. Send 150 dozen more.” “Professor GEORGE FORBES begs to inform Messrs.
