established the Leipziger Synagogalchor and ten years later he died. During his years with the choir, he wrote about thirty choral arrangements of Jewish songs in Yiddish and Hebrew. — o Az der Rebbe Elimelech (When the Rabbi Elimelech) Words and melody: Moshe Nadir. Arr.: Friedbert Gross Baritone, choir and piano The famous song on R. Elimelech, which many believe to be an original old Hasidic melody, was actually composed in the beginning of the 20th Century, by the New York Jewish satirist Moshe Nadir. And although it was meant to poke tun of the Hasidim, it soon spread over the entire Yiddish world and became one of the most loved folk song. Even the Hasidim themselves adopted it as their own. R. Elimelch calls his Klezmer players to make him happy. First he calls two fiddlers, then two drummers, then two cymbal players. In the Version that the choir sings, the noise of the Klezmer rises to such an extent that R. Elimelech ends up with a terrible headache. Friedbert Gross's arrangement of this song is especially imaginative and humoristic. Yismechu adirim (May the mighty rejoice in the giving of the Law) Text: Folk song from the Middle East. Melody: East-European dance song. Arr.: Werner Sander Choir and piano A joyful dance-song for the procession of the Torah scrolls in the Hakafot ceremony of the Simchat Torah Holy-Day. The text originated in the Jewish communities of the Middle East, but the melody is similar to Klezmer dance tunes. Werner Sander based his arrangement on the repeated exclamation: “Gilah, rinah, ditzah v'chedva" four Synonyms for exuberant joy. iv J‘nU9Xn 70 JX J77IU mn ?D‘D‘UDJ ,D‘7V] ,dto .DTU noW nXI |nn nxn DIU9 nanu nn XDNU 2’91 nnpn 7 nTOID ,m0 n1I l"y nUV) nnpnh un ninpn nxon nin Ixhona ‘ya Thn T0 .ronn n‘ mnr ,n"9D nmV 7 nonnh p’yXn >"y ul 1943- n’ya VITI 1953-21 ponun ‘ya nihnpn nxiDD UD’U rinnen nxh n Un’U nr r‘p9na 2’91 yn 7U IUXnn mnD 719 7nn 7U D’VII 7 nxn pi nU nTUU mopn nnp onn anan nhnpnn nX o’pn 1962- .107Dn 7 In’ DD minionN 19 nIUa .09) po nxh DOW UVI noon n‘ mnr □"mn 1 oy n’U n’TIa’V 30-) nhnpnn Iy anD Nin nynno .nnAVNI W'TO 2n‘X '21 1 VT TX (nnu nin n’x n UXD) ,‘TX) nun :n2‘n D’n 0113 0127'19 :m‘y 1091 nnpn ,ona - o mon ‘7 miN DUin D’U ,n‘7X mn 7 DoI9nn ‘Un nUn Ipnoxon '"y pu 1a 20-n nxDn n’UXa nain ,nipn 71 ouonn mnr TVI niTonn m 7y ‘vonIIn ‘UD ‘TX) n nnn nInNn Dyn n’Un TnXh 9n U’TI nm 7 nhyn nX yn nn’x inn ,nhionn nxh .DDYV p’Tonn mpa nU MIp Nin nhnn .
