This is the Compilation of two melodies of different centuries for the same Yiddish lyrics. These describe a man who is trying to find the melody which his grandpa hid in the good old wine (and he drinks several glasses to find it). The lyrics are by Ovsey Shike-Driz and the music by Polina Shepherd and Saul Berezovsky. Ovsey Shike-Driz was born in the territory of modern Ukraine. Polina Shepherd, who now lives in England, has Ukrainian roots. One of her ancestors was the world-famous Ukrainian philosopher G.Skovoroda. Trad. Gut Yom-tev A nigun which is traditionally sung on holidays. We sing it as an anniversary greeting for the beautiful Zemel Choir! Trad. Di re gelt This is an old Jewish folk song about the difficulties that face poor people who cannot pay the high rents charged for apartments. But we believe that the people with kind hearts will save this world. That is why we have added some "musical citations", one of which really gives us some hope for bettertimes. Itai Daniel Khatzi Kaddish The prayer of Chatzi Kaddish is recited in happy times, as well as in sad ones. Written in 2014, this short piece for choir a cappella uses the Kaddish in its more nostalgic form. The music is quiet, low, serene and very moving.
