African I/lands. j There are two volcanoes in the Azores, viz,, one in Fayal, and another m Pico. 2 Two volcanoes in the Canary Ifles. Ofthefe, one' is fituated in Teneriffe, and the other in Palma. , 3. The ifland Feugo, one of the Cape de Verde Iflands, has a volcano of confiderahle magnitude. 4. The Ifland of Afcenfion, fituated in lat. 8* S. long. 4 0 , is alfo volcanic. 5. There is one volcano in the ifland Zibbel- Teir, in the Red Sea. America. Continent of North America. 1. Captain Cook obferved a volcano in a ftate of adtivity, in lat. 6i« N. long. zzi«. 2. Don Maurelle difcovered a very high vol cano on the weft coaft of America, in lat. 59^ long. 227° ; and another on the fame coaft, in lat. 41 0 N. to the north ot Cape Mendocin. 3. Captain Cook obferved a volcano, at the further extremity of the peninfula of Alafka, m lat. 55 0 N. long. 214 0 . 4. Five volcanoes have been obferved on the peninfula of California.
