352 CLAY GENUS. Geognoflic Situation. It is one of the newer primitive rocks, and occurs in beds fubordinate to clay flate. Geographic Situation. It is found in Norway, Sweden, Stiria, the Tyro!, Switzerland, in Scotland, in the iflands of Arran and Bute, banks of Loch Lomond, Loch Tay, See*. Ob/ermiions. 1. It fometimes pafles into mica flate, and horn blende flate. 2.
