It occurs in floetz-trap rocks, as in basalt, greenstone, and amygdaloid. In this country it occurs in Dunbartonshire, Ayrshire and Perthshire, and always in trap rocks. It is found in floetz-trap rocks in the Island of Iceland, and in the Faroe Islands; also in the rocks of the Puy de Marman in Auvergne; and m the Tyrol. ' America.—It occurs in floetz-trap rocks in the Island of Disco, in West Greenland. Observations. !• Crystallization, kind of lustre, fracture, distinct concretions, transparency, hardness, and weight, are the »»ost essential characters of this subspecies. ‘2.
