It ls frequently intermixed with felspar, mica, and quartz, a,1( l thus acquires a porphyritic character. It has also keen found in lloetz-trap rocks. Geographic Situation. Europe It occurs in large beds, in porphyry, near I okay, Keresztur, and Telkehanya, in Hungary ; also a t Schemnitz, (llasshiitte and Kremnitz, in the same country, it ; g to occur at Cnrbonera, at Cape de ^ote in Spain, where it is associated with obsidian. It occurs, along with porphyry, near Sandy Brae in Ireland; aa d in lloetz-trap rocks in the Island of Iceland *. Asta—Beautiful varieties of this mineral occur near °chotsk. ■America.—It occurs, along with porphyry, in Mexico. Observations. * Mackenzie’s Travels in Iceland.
