GOLD-YELLOW NATIVE GOLD. 9 eulated, dentiform ? amorphous, ramose, and crystal lised. The surface of the grains is rough, and of the leaves delicate, drusy or smooth. The external lustre is glistening. Internally it is glimmering, passing into glistening, and the lustre is metallic. The fracture is fine hackly. The fragments are indeterminate angular, and very blunt-edged. The streak is shining. It is soft. It is completely malleable. It is common flexible. It is uncommonly heavy. Specific gravity, from 17.000 to 19.000, Chemical Characters. It is fusible into a globule, which is not altered by con tinuance of the heat. Constituent Parts. It contains only a very minute portion of Silver and Copper. Gcosnoslic Situation. © It occurs disseminated, in veins, and mineral beds, in granite, gneiss, mica-slate, clay-slate, clay-porphyry, and sandstone; also in grains and masses in alluvial deposites, in the beds of rivers, or in the alluvial soil in the flat country through which rivers occasionally flow.
