External Characters. ,, Its colour is greyish-white, and veined with bluish- yrey. It occurs massive. Internally it is splendent. The fracture is foliated, and it is said to exhibit a threefold slightly oblique cleavage. The fragments are rhomboidal. It occurs in granular distinct concretions. It is translucent on the edges. It is soft. It is brittle. It is easily frangible. Specific gravity, 2.878, Hauy, Chemical Characters. It melts easily before the blowpipe into a white opaque enamel; and becomes feebly phosphorescent when thrown #n glowing coals. Constituent
