PERCTHTE. 619 into a globule of copper. Readily soluble in acids. Completely soluble in ammonia. CuCl + 3CuII, chlorine 16-63, copper 14-86, oxide of copper 55-84, water 12'67. Analyses of remolinite a from Chile by Klaproth, b from Chile, c from Peru, both by Proust, d from Chile by J. Davy, e from Cobija by Berthier,/by Ulex:— abed e f Ilydroch. acid Chlorine . . Copper . . Ox. copper . Water . . Silica . . . In attached crystals, reniform, stalactitic, fibrous or granular masses, disseminated. Occurs as a volcanic product. Is some times formed by the action of sea water on copper. Is found in veins with cuprite, malachite, brown iron ore, quartz, at Los Remolinos, Guasko, Soledad in Chile, in veins of silver ores in the district of Tantpacii in Peru, Schwarzenberg in Saxony, on the lavas of Vesuvius and Aitna. 452. When slightly heated the blue colour changes to emerald- green, and re-appears on cooling. In the matrass decrepitates and yields water, which does not redden litmus paper. It readily melts into a brown liquid which diffuses itself in drops over the contiguous surface of the tube, and on cooling becomes a pale brown fissured mass. Heated in the open tube, a white, not sensibly odorous, vapour is evolved. Heated in the outer flame of the blowpipe, the flamo is green within and deep blue at the edges. On charcoal in the inner flame, metallic globules are obtained, some having the appearance of lead, others that of adoe.
