Is found at Ilmenau, Fricdrichsrode, Eglersburg, Eeinweg in Thuringia, Yorderehrensdorf near Mahrish-Triibau in Moravia, Si Harz, near Zellerfeld and Goslar, and occasionally at Ihlefeld, pseudomorphous after manganite and calcite; at Jo- hann-Georgenstadt in Saxony, Hirschberg in Westphalia, the Sudelzeche near Platten, and many veins of iron ore in the mining districts of Bohemia; in beds of chalybite, especially when decomposed, in Stiria, Carinthia and Ilessia j in veins of chalybite and hydrous iron-oxido in Sayn, Streitberg, liorhausen and Herdorf near Siegen, and near Friedewald, Knorrenberg, Hamm in Westphalia, Schnarchenreuth and Hirscliberg near Arzberg in Baireuth, Schwarzenthal in the Eiesengebirgo, Waidhofen on the Thaia in Austria, Konradswaldau and Eemerz in Silesia, Maczkamezo in Transylvania, Villa Eicca in the Brazils. Varvieite which, according to the analysis of Phillips, consists of manganese 03-3, oxygen 317, water 6, is supposed to be a mechanical mixture of pyrolusite and manganite. 121.
