(368) TO GUNMAKERS AND OTHERS INTERESTED IN THE MANUFACTURE OF FIRE-ARMS. M R. C. FURBER is instructed to SUBMIT to PUBLIC COMPETITION, at the Mart, Bar- tholomew-lane, City, on Thursday, Nov. 17, at Twelve for One, by order of the Mortgagee, several valuable Patents granted to Mr. Prince for IMPROVEMENTS in FIRE ARMS, better known as Prince’s breech-loader, Prince’s double-barrel gun, Prince’s addition to breech-loader and a new cartridge, Prince’s new breech-loading and self priming rifle. In submitting these valuable patents to the notice of the public generally, and to the manufacturers in particular, it is necessary to state that these patents, among other advantages, possess simplicity, rapidity, precision, and economy, and offer to the trade" at large, or to any energetic speculator, the certainty of a largo and rapid fortune. The breech-loader may be denominated the patent of the day, having undergone every possible test, and having received universal approval. Its advan tages have overcome every prejudice, and its unrivalled merit has been attested by thirteen of the most eminent gunmakers in London, in addition to the repeated enco miums passed upon it by Lord Elcho, Mr. Hans Busk, and the press. The applicability for cavalry, as well as a regulation rifle for other branches of the service, induces a belief that Her Majesty’s government will recognise its value and proceed with further experiments, while the formation of rifle corps throughout the kingdom must of necessity create a large and increasing demand for such a rifle. The limits of an advertisement preclude the possi bility of entering, fully into the principles of the patents or their merits; suffice it to say, that the specifications and samples of the guns may be seen at Mr. Furber’s offices, in Warwick-court, where particulars and every information may be obtained; as also of E. Fuller, Esq., solicitor, 39 Hatton-garden ; and at the Auction Mart, London. (398) TO ENGINEERS, BOILER-MAKERS, AND OTHERS. WALKER’S PATENT FRICTIONLESS T t FLOAT, for indicating the height of water in Boilers. This Float combines extreme sensitiveness with simpli city ; it also acts as an Alarum" when the water falls low in the boiler. For a description, with Engravings, see the Mechanics’ Magazine for October 28th. Testimonials have been given as to their efficiency by many eminent Engineers, and they are not expensive. For further par ticulars apply to the Patentee, w'hosc works are at No. 58 Oxford-street, Birmingham ; or Mr. J. W. Wilson, Civil and Mechanical Consulting Engineer, 9 Buckingham- street, Strand, London, where they also may be* seen. (377) O TOYES.—The only Stoves for which a Prize O Medal wuis awarded at the Paris Exhibition in 1855 were WALKER’S PATENT SELF-FEEDING STOVES. They are acknowledged, after Twelve Years’ Experience, to be the most Economical and Perfect Hot-Air Stoves invented for warming Churches, Gentlemen’s Halls, Shops, &c. They will burn for Sixteen Hours with one supply of fuel, requiring no attention. These and WALKER’S IM PROVED MASSEY’S SHIP LOGS are to be had of all respectable Ironmongers, or at the Manufactory, 58 Ox ford-street, Birmingham ; where Prospectuses and Testis monials may be obtained, (378)
