(348) B ALLOONS or Boats Driven by Steam.— The common opinion that Balloons will never be practicable for general travelling is erroneous—the action of Parker’s Small Steam Boats shows that they may be pro pelled at great speed; the Boats are driven by Steam Rockets, which act upon the air. Fuel, a few drops of spirits; Boats complete, 5 in. for a basin, 3s. post free; 13 in. for ponds, 5s. 6d. rail free. James Parker, Inventor, 6 Lilford-road, Camberwell. These Small Boats go twice the speed of any others with half the fuel; a Steel Rocket of 150 lbs., steam pressure, 1,000 lbs.
