His great grandfather, Luca di Paolo del Mi- gliore, was an agricultural labourer, his grandfather a linen weaver. Agnolo, the tailor, was twenty seven years old, when his wife Costanza gave birth (1487) to Andrea del Sarto. Their usual place of abode was Gualfonda, until 1504, when they lived in the Popolo di S.
