This is a mixture of Fra Bartolommeo and Andrea del Sarto, and not improbably by Puligo, the forms exag gerating the system of drawing of del Sarto, and the Virgin’s head being an inspiration from one of the Frate’s. The colour is some what sotnbre, and not absolutely satisfactory in the transitions from light to shadow. London. Lord Elc/io. In front, a cup out of which a finch is drinking (wood, half life size): The Virgin and S. Joseph are apparently taken from Fra Bartolommeo; the two children are reminiscent of Ra phael.
