A.—Specimens of Lacquer Ware, Lacquering on Wood, Inlaid Wood and Lacquer mixed, Lacquer on other materials, as Ivory, Shells, Tortoiseshell, &c. Inlaid Woods. 1. Very curious old lacquered cabinet in colours, with enamelled figures in basso re lievo ; richly chased bronze and njetal handles. 2. Old lacquered cabinet, with gold leaves and figures. 3. Old cheffonier cabinet, with intaglios and carved figures in basso relievo inlaid ; a very unique specimen. 4. Small toilet cabinet of red and carved lacquer, with carved ivory handles ; the same sort of lacquer known in China as ‘ ( Soochow ware.” 5. Large cabinet on hard wood, elabo rately carved and lacquered, with cameos of finely-chiselled ivory, and embossed metal handles; very old, and perfectly unique of its kind. 6. Small carved cabinet of plain unlac quered cedar wood ; brought from Osaca. 7. Small toilet cabinet and cheffonier; very fine lacquer. 8. Small cabinet drawers for toilet. 9. Ditto, ditto. 10. Lacquered cabinet stand. 11. Ditto, with globe-top imitation cracked china, fitted up elaborately with all the re quisites for a luncheon party, plates, dishes, cups, and sake bottle.
